La campagne Global Ride to Rio a pour but principal de mettre en lumière l’importance et la contribution du vélo en matière de développement durable. L’idée principale réside dans le fait de remettre un communiqué (intitulé «Save Our Future: Cycle! ») au Earth Summit Rio+20 organisé du 20 au 22 Juin à Rio de Janeiro au Brésil. Ce communiqué, disponible sur le site, évoque les bienfaits du vélo non seulement sur son utilisateur mais également la contribution que peut avoir ce dernier envers la société et le développement durable.

L’objectif a d’autre part été chiffré : obtenir d’ici 2030, qu’une moyenne de 30% des kilomètres parcourus soient effectués en vélo ou grâce à d’autres moyens de mobilité active (marche, E-bikes, VAE ou encore roller).

Les actions pour réaliser cet objectif se matérialisent sous trois formes :

• Global Impact Tour, qui a pour but de promouvoir le mouvement afin d’avoir le plus de soutien possible et donc de maximiser l’impact du communiqué lors de sa remise : une étape aura lieu à Evian en septembre.

• Global Action Weekend (16-17 Juin 2012), qui consiste en des actions concrètes (à Munich le 16 Juin avec la signature du communiqué par le maire de Munich M. Christian Ude et à Rio le 17 avec la remise du communiqué). Un événement aura bien entendu également lieu à Annecy ! plus d’information bientôt.

• Signatures, soit le nombre de signatures du communiqué mais aussi la nationalité des personnes ayant signés

The Global Ride to Rio was initiated in July 2011 by the Innovationsmanufaktur with the support of the key action team: the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF), ISPO BIKE, MUSICJUSTMUSIC, forum CSR International and ……. AZIMUT !

By today Global Ride to Rio is working with an increasing number of organizations, institutions and individuals from all over the world from Mexico, to Australia and Japan to stimulate complementing activities and thus make this initiative as effective as possible.

The Global Ride to Rio is a campaign for global sustainable development and aims to advocate the importance and the contribution of cycling for sustainable development. The core idea behind it is to deliver a communiqué titled “Save Out Future: Cycle!” to the Earth Summit Rio+20 on 20-22 of June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This communiqué sums up the positive effects that bicycle can have on its owner but also on society as a whole as well as sustainability.

The aim is that by 2030, an average of 30 percent of all traffic kilometers worldwide are realized on a bicycle or by other means of active mobility (including E-bikes, walking, inline skating etc.).

The set of actions is divided into three parts:

• Global Action Tour : the goal is to promote the campaign in order to get as much support as possible.

• Global Action Weekend : The objective is, on June 16 and 17, to support this campaign, with public activities, media involvement and global solidarity just before the Earth Summit in Rio (The Lord Mayor of Munich, Mr. Christian Ude, will sign the communiqué). An event will happen in Annecy as well! more details soon.
